As the lead partner for the design department Grant is responsible for managing all building alteration, repair and refurbishment projects undertaken by Sidleys. He has extensive experience in delivering projects from feasibility stage through to the handover of the completed scheme.

Relevant Experience


Grant has been the principal designer and contract administrator for a variety of projects, primarily, but not exclusively, for public schools and Oxford colleges. Projects include:
  • Alterations and refurbishment of sports facilities including:
  1. refurbishment of changing rooms
  2. refurbishment of a ‘racket’s court’ and viewing gallery
  3. formation of a fitness suite within an existing sports studio
  4. formation of a bar and social area within a disused court area
  • Conversion of an art school into a conference suite.
  • Refurbishment of dormitory and student accommodation units including alterations to staff accommodation and extensions.
  • Installation of a suite of modular classroom units.
  • Commercial kitchen refurbishments
  • Alteration and refurbishment of residential units for the elderly for a number of almshouse charities

The majority of the projects detailed incorporate an element of fabric repair and maintenance and many of the schemes have been carried out on historic and listed buildings.

Grant has also acted as party wall surveyor on a wide range of project types.

Personal Strengths


  • Over 30 years' experience in building surveying and design with Sidleys in Oxfordshire and the surrounding counties.
  • In addition to the coordination and management role Grant also takes on many of the projects personally, dealing with all aspects of the scheme.

  • Overall responsibility for delivering the project and meeting the client’s brief.
  • Coordination of the project team to ensure delivery of the client’s  requirements
